femme fatale

a little 90s flashback for your eyes only. I think they made another american version of this one, but I must say the french version is far better. Lately I've been watching lots of movies from the nineties from my dad's french movie archives...outfit ideas spring up like mushrooms! we've been seeing lots of touches of the nineties revival lately... the grunge revival, the round-frame sunnies, bomber jackets, doc martens, the denim jacket, combat boots, shoulder pads, Herve Leger's body-con bandage dresses have made a HUGE comeback with the celebrities these past few years. Anyways, enjoy!

Tainted

These are water damaged photos, they're just so beautiful...the cracks & smudged + displaced ink. I think its sparked a new painting idea for me. hehe. These look like they belong to a holga fanatic who also happens to be a water nymph/ mermaid, stashed her photos in her aquatic abode and they were found by a scuba diver/ treasure hunter one day... Or if you're a realist then i'd offer you the boring version: they were just in someone's humid attic which got rained in with a hole in the roof, found these babies and decided to send them off to natgeo. yawns.
I'm inspired now, they're too cooool!

Franca Sozzani tweeted this yesterday...i think? And upon reading it i HAD to share this with you all. The vogue Italia have blown my mindddddddddddd *KABOOMZ* (yes i've said it! Even if my eternal loyalty lies at french vogue this is an exception guys) they've released their september issue in 3D with the gorgeous Miranda Kerr gracing the cover shot by steven meisel. So the magazine comes with 3D glasses for you to view the spread & IM SO BUYING THIS (i'm pretty positive i'll fall on the floor writhing with misery if i don't). enough said.

childhood

This movie struck me hard. I've waited since 1999 for Toy Story 3, Andy graduates and I've just graduated too I think its when you find common ground with a movie or a story (even a person) that you learn to appreciate them for the first time. It wasn't the light and fluffy experience i bargained for; it made me strangely nostalgic and gave me horrible childhood flashbacks post-movie AND I was tearing up in the end (FOR A CARTOON!?)... it was so out of character for me. But it was SO worth the money, I mean my childhood girlfriend Barbie was in it guys! I was flipping out hardcore ok? It just made me realise that as much as I'm dying to go to university, I'm dying to become a kid again too. meh.

Silly young things

Kate + Johnny, Catherine, Jane.  Youth, when you're been untouched, fresh, innocent, those times of reckless abandon and not being fully aware of the consequences... Waking up everyday yearning for adventures, new toys, recognition, fame, money, boys, girls, love. Youth is the most precious commodity one owns. I'm hoping my precious youth lasts as long as it possibly can. because i miss it already.

Coveting.

"OH BABAY BABAY"

Queen of pop goes pop. woo!
A collaboration between my childhood songstress + Pop magazine. Unexpected, but so befitting...and so she's supposed to portray a super-mega-kawaii manga character with aid of artist extraordinaire Takashi Muramaki. First Pop issue I bought was with Lara Stone on the cover about 3 years ago? I can't be sure...I'm definitely buying the Britney issue though. My heart is emitting a warm glow of pride for Mademoiselle Spears, go Britney go!

Vacances

Well I wasn't going to blog about resort collections, since its old news now...but bear with me. These two collections had my pulse rising.

The Row resort 2011

Loafers, minimal statement pieces which look good on their own but at the same time provides a clean canvas to add  colour or a killer piece of jewelry. There's an androgynous, grungy but clean cut feel and what I love the most about it is that it looks so effortless + laidback + comfy: super epic combo. The Olsens know that sometimes, you just cannot be asked to wake up and create a fiasco trying on 348394372924 outfits in the morning... The collection has a quick solution for every scenario: bipolar weather/formal outings/informal outings...whatever the case, you're set and comfy and looking awesomely edgy.

Lanvin resort 2011

Feminine + fun + fresh! Ha, love my alliteration there (lame, i know, my apologies). Loving the fluid skirts, retro sunglasses, flirty dresses and those divine lace-up wedge/platforms (in the 3rd & 4th photo) that look so darn comfy.(IM SO COVETING THOSE, btw) AND Sessilee Lopez is in the campaign, which makes it doubly awesome. I'm hoping she makes more shows next season, methinks she brings something quite special to the table.

The dreamers

I LOVE this movie. Its controversial, yes. But beautiful. Michael Pitt (♥) is so adorable in this movie the character transformation is remarkable, and so is the beautiful Eva Green oozing with sex appeal.  If you're stuck in a movie rut, i recommend you watch this, its very fresh and it will most probably get you out of your comfort zone.

She's a Maneater!

By Moi.

By the way guys, I've just come to realise that Louis Vuitton doesn't have a fragrance atm. I wonder why...

It happened to be a closet.

Lunch with mum at 'It happened to be a closet' it has a lovely kitschy bistro parisien feel, very intimate. A farewell with my beloved friend :( and a little party filled with little cuties.

I blog + photograph food. I worship food.
seared foie gras with berries. My favorite dish so far.

we got to sit at the hot pink table this time! haha isn't it awesome? I edited the other two pics to show you the actual colours. The orange light distorts the tone of the table.

Best Friends already.

Margherita Missoni's capsule handbag collection. I've read about this somewhere a while back in a magazine methinks.
Alright let's get into it. One of my closest closest clooosest friends has left today to go to study in NY and bidding our farewells and whatnot was SUPER emotional...OK, not getting back into that. yes. so...What first struck me when I read an article on this was that the designs of each individual bag was inspired by each of Margherita's closest amigas! The signature Missoni prints and the vintage/ bohemian rhapsody she infuses into these bags are spectacular; they don't look like commercially produced bags, more like a bag stolen from mum's closet stashed in there since the 70s post hippie-era. The secret is that it doesn't look spanking new, so its as if you've had it for years and this bag and it's owner have a long history together and even when it's in the store you feel a familiar friendship with these bags. (maybe that's just me)  It's a girl's perfect companion, as is a best friend. Kudos to Margherita. ;)

Mmmmm Missoni

Missoni's 2010 fall-winter campaign by Kenneth Anger

starring the entire Missoni clan, somehow i always seem to spot Margherita more often than the others? This is way trippy, also way beautiful, ofcourse.

'La Vie en Rouge'

Jalouse magazine's July-August 2010 'la vie en rouge' issue is lovely!
I've always had a fascination of red haired people, they're so unique & mindblowingly cool :) so this issue was a great surprise for me when i found them in the stalls when i was in France this summer, the issue is filled with scarlet-haired vixens. Thought I'd share this with you guys.

something random for your eyes only:

I can't ever raise fish without killing them, so my old fishtank is now filled with random rubber toys from the market.

Got these Lanvin pencils in Harrods I think. Not long ago. I almost flipped seeing it. ha HA!
so far i only sharpened one pencil, I'm going to keep the rest of the babies in the box.
